The Lord, milk, and Oreo are the only things keeping me awake these past few days. That and anything caffeinated. Why am I so tired? Well besides babysitting my 1 mo. old niece M-F, I have been burning the midnight oil incorporating new plans and strategies.
I love my business. Anyone who doesn’t probably should rethink starting a note business. For one, a lot of effort has to go into things that may come easier if one were starting a business in another industry. The note industry is large (revenue) yet very very small (successful businesses). Just try looking up the word ‘note’ in the business section of your yellowpages. I found 8 in my state.
I would be lying if I told you seeing so little made me sad. Quite the contrary. I feel all the more overjoyed when I can count on 2 hands the number of successful competition. Here’s why:
-
None of the companies are in my city.
-
None of the companies had a website, or at least a link to one.
-
None of the companies know I exist.
-
None of the companies are marketing the same way I am, which is probably why they wasted their money on the yellow pages in the first place.
Because of this love of my company, I strategize. If you love something you try your best to keep it, make it the best, update it, etc. If you love your business, you see it as more than a way to get rich quick (which won’t happen in this industry).
You care if your materials are cheesy and unprofessional. Nothing pleases you like when you meet a goal or even surpass it, or you find a better way of doing something that no one else thought of. If you visit this blog regularly (which some of you do) you’re strategizing. You love your company enough to want to make it better.
Love equals strategy.
Here are some ideas to think about to get you started:
-
Newsletters: New articles, new sections, advertisements, distribution, company promotions, etc.
-
The term “note”: not many consumers are familiar with this term, how can I get around that?
-
Services: what new service can I come up with that is unique to my company only and makes me more desirable than my competition?
-
Referrals: how will I attain referrals, keep repeats, stay in their minds, etc.?
-
What is a new way my customers will feel more connected with me/my company?
-
Make a database of different marketing and see which works best.
These are just a few. Write out a list of some of the new ideas you came up with, then think about how they might fit into your marketing plan.
Coram Deo
